Kolkata based photojournalists working with major national and international recently organized an exhibition of their work.

Photographers from reputed organizations like Reuters, Associated Press (AP), Agence France Presse (AFP), The Telegraph, Anandabazar Patrika and many others participated in the exhibition.

Photographers said that news photographs always reflected real life like images.

"Here you can see life like big images. You can get the taste of real size image. That is the idea behind the exhibition," said Deshkalyan Chowdhury, photographer, AFP.

Besides the real life images, there were photographs of actress Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai. Renowned actress Konkona Sen Sharma who visited the exhibition appreciated the photographs.

"These photographs have a lot of character in them. They are lovely," she said.

All the photographers who participated in the exhibition have travelled across the globe to cover international events. But as they themselves said, they were not very happy with the size of the photos appearing in the newspapers.

They feel that bigger prints not only send across the exact message, but are emote more expressions. This was the reason, they said, that they included larger prints of photographs taken during their travels.

Although there were no guidelines set for the photographers in the exhibition, the local taste of the people was however kept in mind.

The photographs gave expressions to various human emotions and activities, natural beauties, festivals and struggle for existence.

Since West Bengal and Kolkata, were an integral part of the exhibition, traditional photographs depicting catching a hilsa fish or making a Kali Idol, or the huge crowd of devotees congregating at the Gangasagar mela occupied its own pride of place at the event.
