The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) is the only U.S. festival devoted to paving the way for a greater appreciation of India's cinema and diverse culture by providing the public with a selection of films from and about India by Indian and International filmmakers. IFFLA 2003 introduced high quality Indian films to the Los Angeles community providing an excellent platform for film distribution and network opportunities for film professionals. With special filmmaker appearances and sold-out programs that saw more than 6,000 moviegoers attending the gala screenings, IFFLA 2004 is all geared up to take up the onus of showcasing Indian cinema once again.
This year, IFFLA will highlight a combination of 24 films, 10 features and 14 documentaries. The festival is scheduled to take place at ArcLight Cinemas, a state-of-the-art facility at Sunset and Vine (Hollywood) with Rituparno Ghosh's 'Choker Bali (A Passion Play)' as the opening night film.
Screenings, seminars, panel discussions and an opportunity for filmmakers to indulge in one-on-one sessions with top players of the North American film industry are just some of the main features of the festival. IFFLA 2004 will also see the first ever-annual gala film tribute to celebrate the career of award winning Indian actress Kirron Kher. Film aficionados can also look forward to a screening of 'Bariwali' (The Lady of the House) directed by Rituparno Ghosh and the premiere screening of 'Khamosh Pani' (Silent Waters), directed by Sabiha Sumar.
