06 December, 2001
Actor-director Akbar Khan is all set to launch his historical extravaganza, Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story. Khan is currently busy giving finishing touches to the luxurious, ornate interiors of the Taj, which he has 'recreated' at a cost of several crores at Mehrangadh Fort, Jodhpur. The cast is being finalised and names like Aishwarya Rai, Diya Mirza and Kareena Kapoor are being tossed around for the coveted role of Mumtaz Mahal.
According to insiders, the husky-voiced Rekha is being tipped to play the scheming Noor Jehan, while Kabir Bedi could be the choice for the character of Shah Jehan. Incidentally, the movie will have melodies composed by the legendary Naushad while the background score will be by the renowned Yanni.
