Amitabh Bachchan leads an array of Indian and Hollywood stars to join a global initiative to raise awareness about climate change and global warming.
The superstar along with Hollywood diva Sienna Miller and David Milliband, UK’s Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs signed a global contract with Global-Cool, a UK based environment group, at the Madame Tussaud’s museum in London on Wednesday. The museum, incidentally also displays a wax idol of Bachchan.
This is the first attempt to rope in the Indian film industry and cash in on its phenomenal popularity to raise concerns about climate change and the impending environmental challenges faced by the planet.
With the signing of the contract, Bachcan flagged off a campaign that will coincide with the IIFA awards to take place in Yorkshire from June 7-10.
Bachchan, who is also the brand ambassador for IIFA (International Indian Film Academy Awards), launched the ‘IIFA Bond for Global Cool’, which allows fans and supporters across the world to come together as ‘People versus Global Warming’. The campaign aims at encouraging movie fans to contribute towards the cause and gives them the incentive of sharing a common platform with their screen icons.
Other stars from Hollywood and the Indian film fraternity will join in the campaign by featuring in a video that will include the likes of Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Leonardo di Caprio, Ralph Fiennes and Orlando Bloom.
