“A place to relax, walk on the beaches and catch up with film buffs from all over the world,” is how Poonam Dhillon describes Cannes.
The actress is in France to interact with producers and filmmakers from across the world, to develop a keen insight and perspective into the art of making movies.

What has she been up to after landing at Cannes? “I am in love with this place. It’s a hotspot for everyone who loves films and wants to know more about making them. Since I have landed here, I have been chilling out and meeting friends.”
Poonam also attended the premiere of Jagmohan Mundra’s Provoked, starring Aishwarya Rai. What did she think of the film? “I thought it was quite well made. I especially loved Ash’s role; for the first time, you forget she’s Aishwarya Rai, the superstar, and just enjoy her performance.”
Did she get a chance to hang out with other Indian actors and filmmakers? “Yes, I did meet Karan (Johar) and Preity (Zinta). It’s nice to see the interest the international press is taking in Indian cinema.”
What did she think of the outfit Ash wore at the premiere? “It was okay, but I would have loved to see her in an Indian ensemble. She has lost oodles of weight and looks really slim. I think she’s looking the best she has in years.”
Catching Da code
Did she get a chance to watch the Da Vinci Code? “No, I missed it, but I may catch it in London. I haven’t heard good things about it from those who have seen it. I am a huge fan of the book, and it’s going to be difficult for the film to sustain the level of interest Dan Brown managed to generate with his plot.”
Are there are international celebrities she’s looking forward to meet? “There’s no one in particular. I am more excited about chatting with Asian and European directors about their take on cinema,” says Poonam.
