On a 'fast' track

It is a lesser-known fact that Amitabh Bachchan fasts along with wife Jaya on Karva Chauth every year. It's a practice that he has been following ever since their marriage in 1973. The actor has often refrained from having lunch with unit members and fellow actors on outdoor schedules citing reasons that wife Jaya, too, has kept a fast.
Like every year, Big B and his wife had fasted all day for Karva Chauth. However, this time star duo had a long wait in store for them, as the moon appeared much later in the evening.
A close family friend, who celebrated Karva Chauth along with the Bachchans last week, says, "We had to be extremely patient this year as the moon appeared post 10.30 pm. Jayaji and Bachchan saab have been religiously fasting for so many years on Karva Chauth. They had a tough time this year."
Another guest, who attended the evening pooja at Jalsa, says, "Bachchan saab didn't come for the pooja. But Jayaji mentioned that he still continues to fast along with her."
Apparently, son Abhishek wants to fast for wife Aishwarya too. Recently, when he was quizzed about keeping a fast with wife Aishwarya, he said, "I will ask my father and let you know."
The daddy-se-pooch-lena boy may not have kept a fast this year, but certainly intends to do so in the years to come.
