Ash to open Pune Fest

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai will inaugurate the Pune Festival 2004 on Friday 24th September, at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch. The glittering inaugural ceremony, from 4.30 pm, will also host ambassadors of Cuba, Spain and Austria, said official Pune Festival sources. The Pune Festival awards will be presented to Raj Singh Dungarpur, former president of the Board of Cricket Control India, child actor and National award winner Ashwin Chitale and Dnyanoba Landge, whose family has been organising bullock cart races for the fourth generation now. Highlights include Ganesh Vandana by Esha and Ahana Deol, singing of the theme song by Hrishikesh Ranade and Prajakta Joshi, lavani by Varsha Usgaonkar and a tribute to 75 years of Prabhat Film Company with a song and dance. Sachin Khedekar and Tushar Dalvi will also star in a tableau which traces the journey of Pune. Sudhir Gadgil and Devika Nadig will compere the show.
