Ash is a very professional person.
- Akshaye Khanna (actor)
I have always thought of her as immensely beautiful but I'm sure there's something in me as well that has got the media impressed. Today people compare us as two actresses, a while ago it was between two models. Aishwarya has a very conventional coy look. Even the kind of roles that are offered to her are on a different tangent as opposed to mine.
- Sushmita Sen (actress)
Ash is Miss World, in the real sense! She has a truly international face, along with talent in abundance. As an artist, she does not hesitate in putting that extra effort. She was a joy to work with during the making of Taal. People have often asked me why I had not changed her name to something that starts with 'M', to which I say that as she was Miss World which starts with 'M', I didn't see the need to do so. She has already proved herself time and again and I feel she is one of the best performers we have today.
- Subhash Ghai (director)
Aishwarya is one of the most beautiful actresses I have had the opportunity to direct. We enjoyed working together and since day one she has been co-operation personified. There have been times when we have had differences of opinion, but it all has been towards betterment of the film. I have not seen her in any other film, except Josh, and if you ask my opinion, she is extremely versatile with the potential to go places.
- Mansoor Khan (director)
We all keep seeing her everywhere. She's beautiful and a really wonderful person.
- Amitabh Bachchan (actor, producer)
Ash is a pucca professional. She's known me for a while. We share a good working relationship. She's seen success as Miss World. She has been around the globe. She's not an upstart. Hits and flops will not change her equations with people.
- Sunil Shetty (actor)
Aishwarya was good too. As an artiste she has evolved and matured a great deal with each outing.
- Puru Raaj Kumar (actor)
Aishwarya is the most professional actress I've met in my 27-years career! She has no time for nonsense. She has no airs.
- Rishi Kapoor (actor)
She's one of the world's most beautiful women and she is a super achiever.
- Diya Mirza (actress)
I was thoroughly impressed with Aishwarya in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The film ran because of fantastic performances.
- David Dhawan (director)

Aishwarya Rai on the cover of Time. Doing a film with Meryl Streep. Being a Cannes jury member. Bagging a role in Bride and Prejudice - I think she has really and truly done the country proud apart from the Miss World title. What she has done for the country is outstanding. When I go abroad, I hear people say her name. She really is the face of India. She is truly the brand ambassador. One emotion you feel when you think of her is pride. I think she has made a big difference.
It's her birthday and all I can say is God bless her. She definitely is providing a platform for Indians. She has really been all over the place in the last 8 months. Acting with Meryl Streep is no mean achievement and she has become the blue eyed girl of Miramax, they like her a lot. She has gone places. She truly is an achiever. I would love to work with her someday, because I think she is immensely beautiful. She is one of those faces that you feel like taking a close up of.
- Karan Johar (director)

I share a wonderful relationship with her. I think we meet on a different level. She's very sensitive, very emotional. I remember her crying when she heard the script of Devdas. She is absolutely mouldable. Once she trusts you, she gives herself up to you without question. She is a delight for any director to work with.
- Sanjay Leela Bhansali (director)

We finished Choker Bali and are going to make another film with her titled tentatively Raincoat. I met her at Locarno. My brothers were surprised when they worked with her. She has an angelic behaviour. They expected that a star as huge as she is would have airs. But she was like just another person. The budget for the film was low so there were no luxuries. She shot for 20 days - 10 in Kolkata and 10 in Benares. She would be on the sets on time. She was extremely professional and cordial. She made friends with everybody on the first day itself. I got to know her at Locarno. She is intelligent, articulate and very considerate. I think she is the most misunderstood woman in the industry. She has achieved so much without being pushed by others. She's done it on her own.
A jury member at Cannes, a film with Meryl Streep or doing Bride and Prejudice - I think men can't take it, it threatens them.
- Shailaja Gupta (Sister of Mahendra Soni and Shrikant Mohta, the producers of Choker Bali)

Miss World is supported by Indian advertising. If there is no Miss World from India for three years, that advertising will stop. Then what happens when Aishwarya Rai becomes Miss World? People start to believe that Indian women are the most beautiful in the world. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, that's what cultural colonisation does.
It works exactly like that. When it was Nicole Kidman or Penelope Cruz, it was the Western media going into overdrive. Here it was the Indian media where, because of the support of the advertising, because of Aishwarya Rai, she became Miss World, she became presented, Bollywood suddenly became hip. Today if you ask people who is the most beautiful woman in the world, I bet you Aishwarya Rai will be there. That's how it works.
- Shekar Kapur (director)
I look up to Aishwarya Rai. She is the complete public woman, a perfect role model! She has such a matchless face.
- Gul Panag (actress, Femina Miss India-Universe 1999)
If Ash was not acting in it, a lot of people would not watch it. A lot of credit goes to Ash because she makes up the commercial bit of the film and you can't take that away from her. A whole lot of people will go watch the film because of her.
- Reema Sen on the casting of Aishwarya for Chokher Bali (actress)
She's superb, I really like her. She is very helpful to newcomers, and she knows exactly what she is doing, a thorough professional.
- Peeya on working with Aishwarya in Bride and Prejudice (actress, model, VJ)
Let me clarify. I did not 'save' Aishwarya Rai's life. That sounds very dramatic. I just happened to be there when she was in a distressed situation. So I did the most logical thing: I drove her to a hospital. That is it. I would do the same for anyone.
- Akshay Kumar (actor)
Aishwarya Rai was very sweet about the Vaada Raha song. She told me she couldn't stop humming it.
- Ram Sampat (musical director of Khakee)
Aishwarya Rai is very particular about her clothes. She insists on a lot of trials and fittings, which is good. It helps the designer get as close to perfection as possible. She likes simple clothes on screen. But when required, she can go over-the-top. She loves bright colors, though she can carry off any shade. She's particular about matching shoes and bags to go with her clothes. Personally, she's a white T-shirt and blue jeans kinda girl.
- Vikram Phadnis (fashion designer)
I don't consider her competition because she is a dear friend of mine. I think there's enough room for everybody in the film industry. She has already been crowned Miss World and I think she has done her country proud.
- Rani Mukherjee (actress)
In terms of fashion satiation, I would say I love working with Sri Devi, Shilpa Shetty and Aishwarya Rai.
- Neeta Lulla (fashion designer)
Honestly when you think of beauty, you think of Aishwarya Rai.
- John Abraham (actor)
The critics had ripped Aishwarya Rai apart in "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya" as well but today they have different things to say about her performance.
- Celina Jaitley (actress)
You can't hold someone by the collar and ask them why he/she has written a gossip piece. But I don't have the time to solve petty issues. As I see it, if tomorrow I meet Ash, both of us will hug each other.
- Rani Mukherjee (actress, on her reported cooling off with Aishwarya Rai)
Besides, to be successful, one needs to be content in life. Today, if I want to be Aishwarya Rai, I cannot be her. The same stands true for Aishwarya [to be Bipasha].
- Bipasha Basu (actress)
It's been a beautiful experience. There was an unfortunate accident during "Khakee". Too much has been said and written about what I did to help her and Tusshar Kapoor after the mishap. So I don't want to talk about it, except to say that I did only what was right. As for her role and performance, mark my words, she's all set to give the audience a jolt.
- Akshay Kumar (actor, on working with Aishwarya in "Khakee")
Of course, the first day I did a scene with Bachchan, Aishwarya and Akshay Kumar, it was like "Oh my God, this is the moment."
- Tusshar Kapoor (actor, on working with Aishwarya in "Khakee")

"I don’t know Kareena Kapoor so I won’t comment on her. But Aishwarya is my friend. She’s a very cool girl. And I’ll never compete with her. In fact, I can never compete with her. She’s gorgeous, she dances like a dream. And what’s more, she’s a very cultured person. I will always wish her well. I hope and pray her Bride And Prejudice does well because a film like that will take crossover cinema to another level. It’s important for our cinema that it does well.
For me, there’s no personal competition with any of them. I’m happy doing one film at a time; I can’t handle three films together anyway. And there are so many film-makers, there’s work for everyone. There’s work for Kareena, for Aishwarya, for Rani Mukerji, for Tabu and me."
- Preity Zinta (actress, on whether she believes she’s marched ahead of her rivals)

"Yeah, I will work with a director who will cast Aishwarya and me. I am nobody to cross anybody's name out of my professional life. I always work with heroines chosen by the director."
- Shahrukh Khan (actor, on working with Aishwarya after their reported fallout)
